Liz is a seasoned professional with nearly 20 years of experience in energy policy, market analysis, and transmission regulatory reforms within the non-profit, government, and private sectors. Liz most recently served as Lead Advisor to the Chairman at FERC on transmission and technology initiatives, where she spearheaded reforms to the interconnection queue and regional transmission planning processes that later resulted in Order No. 2023 and Order No. 1920. Prior to this role, Liz served as a technical advisor to then-Commissioner Glick focusing on grid-enhancing technologies, energy storage and distributed generation, and matters concerning MISO, SPP, CAISO, and non-RTO west.
Before joining FERC, Salerno was the Global Head of Strategy for the service group at wind turbine manufacturer SiemensGamesa delivering economic evaluations of new business models and product portfolios responsive to evolving needs of customers during the energy transition. Before the global merger of Siemens and Gamesa, Liz provided market strategy and policy analysis across the wind and natural gas businesses of Siemens.
Liz first established herself as a leading authority on wind industry data and policy analysis at the American Wind Energy Association (now American Clean Power Association) as the Vice President of Industry Data and Analysis. She led transformative efforts by expanding industry data and leveraging policy analysis while publishing reports critical to industry stakeholders and policymakers alike.
Liz earned a Master of Public Policy from the George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Boston University. She and her family live in Charlottesville, VA.
