Former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Rich Glick and Pamela Quinlan, most recently a Senior Policy Advisor to current FERC Chair Phillips, and previously FERC’s Chief of Staff, today announced that they have formed a consulting firm – GQ New Energy Strategies. The firm will empower clients to navigate and thrive in the ongoing clean energy transition. Glick, who served at FERC between 2017-2023, chaired the Commission from January 20, 2021, until January 3, 2023. He has extensive experience on a variety of key energy issues having previously held senior positions with the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, the U.S. Department of Energy, and AvanGrid (previously Iberdrola USA) – a major renewable energy developer and utility holding company. During his time leading FERC, Glick re-focused the Commission’s work towards tackling a number of challenges associated with the clean energy transition, including electric transmission and interconnection reform; updating power market structures; and protecting the reliability of the electric grid.
Quinlan has more than 18 years of experience in energy market regulation and policy. She started at FERC as a Senior Energy Industry Analyst in the Office of Energy Market Regulation. In 2017 Quinlan went to work in Commissioner Glick’s office as a Technical Advisor and then was appointed Chief of Staff in January 2021. As Chief of Staff, she was responsible for developing and implementing the strategy behind the Commission’s policy initiatives. In her most recent position, Quinlan advised Chairman Phillips on Energy Markets and Resource Adequacy. Before joining FERC, she worked for Consolidated Edison and Standard and Poor’s. GQ New Energy Strategies will help clients understand and thrive in the shifting energy regulatory and policy environments. The firm’s services include providing market insights and strategy, analyzing the impact of regulatory proposals on a client’s business, advocating for beneficial policy and legislative outcomes; and helping clients solve problems and identify opportunities in the ever-changing energy business environment. “I am excited for the opportunity to continue to work on the major issues of the day as the U.S. continues to transition to its clean energy future.” Rich Glick said. And, I am very fortunate to be embarking upon this venture with Pamela, who is one of the nation’s preeminent experts on power markets and the changes to market structures that will be necessary to keep up with the clean energy transition.” “This is a critical moment in the energy industry, and I am excited to help companies seize the opportunities presented by the shifting landscape and to be working again with Rich, a long-standing leader on clean energy issues.” Pamela said.
